An interesting concept with decent executionĭespite the few bad things that plague the game, The Devil Inside can be the source for a few hours of fun, especially if you are interesting in new concepts and ideas.

In addition, the graphic quality leaves much to be desired, even if the level design is quite good, in itself, thanks to the peculiar landscapes you find yourself exploring. In addition, there's some puzzle solving involved as well, although nothing too complicated.įinally, the technical aspect is the one thing that does not really fit into the whole picture, since the controls are unresponsive and hard to adjust to, making it really difficult to battle certain foes. Deva, the powerful succubus, can also cast a few spells while she's the one leading the action, while Dave is just able to wield various guns he finds around. The actual gameplay is a blend of third-person shooter and action-adventure, although there is a bit more to it than just that. This also makes for some interesting camera angles when playing as well, especially since there's also a flying camera overhead and you can switch between the two whenever you want.

Not only that, but the plot like also involves the fact that Dave and Deva's exploits are actually part of a reality show, which means that a camera man is always following him/her around and captures their struggle on film, in order to please the audience. Thus, the main story revolves around a guy named Dave and his second incarnation, Deva, who's actually a powerful succubus blessed with demonic powers. The Devil Inside gambled its money away on a very interesting plot, one that certainly distinguishes itself from anything else seen in the industry, at least from a creative point of view.

Hence, whether it's an entirely new gameplay mechanic, or a one-of-a-kind story line, somethings needs to shine in order to make up for the rest of the game. In order to attract players, games need to sometimes recur to slightly more unusual gimmicks, if they lack the proper funding for high-quality graphics engines or various other popular concepts.
